Elemental Kickboxing Leeds
Gradings 2024
Here at the Elemental Kickboxing Leeds we pride ourselves in running quarterly gradings so members have the option to work their way up the grading system and achieving their 1st dan black belt and beyond.
Members will receive a club syllabus when joining the club so they can learn what is expected at each belt.
At the Elemental Kickboxing Academy, grading for belts in martial arts offers several tailored benefits:
Structured Progression within the Academy: The belt grading system at Elemental Kickboxing Academy provides students with a clear and structured path to progress through their martial arts journey. As students advance through the belt ranks, they gain a deeper understanding of kickboxing techniques, principles, and strategies.
Motivation and Goal Setting for Students: Grading for belts serves as a powerful motivational tool for students. Setting goals to achieve the next belt encourages students to attend classes regularly, practice diligently, and strive for continuous improvement in their kickboxing skills.
Recognition and Celebration of Achievement in the club Community: Earning a new belt at Elemental Kickboxing Academy is a significant achievement for students. Belt grading ceremonies and events provide opportunities for students, instructors, and families to come together and celebrate the hard work, dedication, and progress of each individual.
Feedback and Evaluation tailored to Students: Belt grading evaluations at Elemental Kickboxing Academy offer personalised feedback to students, highlighting areas of improvement and recognising strengths in their kickboxing techniques. This feedback guides students on their path to mastery and helps them refine their skills over time.
Community Building and Camaraderie: Belt grading events foster a sense of community and camaraderie among students at Elemental Kickboxing Academy. Students support and encourage each other throughout their martial arts journey, building strong bonds and friendships within the academy.
Character Development: Beyond physical skills, belt grading at Elemental Kickboxing Academy emphasises character development and values that resonate with the community. Students learn important life lessons such as discipline, respect, perseverance, and humility, which they can apply both inside and outside the academy.
Through the tailored belt grading system at Elemental Kickboxing Academy, students experience growth, develop essential life skills, and become part of a supportive martial arts community.

GRADING CRITERIA & FEEDBACK
Each member grading has the opportunity to receive grading feedback from the lead examiner after your grading. Grading feedback serves as an invaluable tool for evaluating your current training position, enabling you to reflect on your strengths and identify areas for improvement.
Our club is dedicated to providing comprehensive feedback that delves into specific aspects of your development. This feedback is both qualitative and quantitative, as each category is assigned a numerical score relative to your belt level. The six categories include technical ability, defensive and two-step partner work, kata forms, shadow and contact sparring, physical fitness, and other considerations such as club attire, equipment, and sportsmanship.
To successfully pass, achieve a merit, or earn a distinction, each member must attain a certain percentage overall, which is contingent upon their belt level. In the event of underperformance, a compensable or fail mark may be assigned. Engaging in this feedback process not only enhances your understanding of your progress but also contributes significantly to your ongoing development in martial arts.
If you would like to learn more about the marking system, please review the 2024 25 Elemental Kickboxing Leeds Grading Criteria Guidance
ON COMPLETION
If you pass your grading you will be awarded your belt. Certificates are produced once all gradings have finished and sent by email within 2 weeks of the gradings ended. If you fail your grading you will be eligible to grade free of charge at the next event.
