Team EKA Squad Training: Saturday 22nd November 2024

This Saturday’s Team EKA Squad session was nothing short of intense, focused, and packed with energy as we continued preparing for next year’s competitions.

A Look at Chappers’ Journey

We kicked off the session with a review of Chappers’ recent performance, breaking down how he approached all three competition categories. It was a fantastic opportunity to gain insight into his preparation and execution, sparking discussions about strategy and the mental toughness required to compete at a high level. Sharing these experiences strengthens the team’s understanding and helps everyone refine their approach.

The “Walk of Pain” Workout

Next up was the notorious "Walk of Pain" workout—a tough, leg-burning challenge designed to make sparring even harder by fatiguing the legs. The workout was split into three gruelling stages:

Front Kicks | Round Kicks | Side Kicks

At each end of the walk, squad members tackled additional exercises before setting off on their second run. It was an incredible test of endurance and determination, with the focus on maintaining technique even when the legs were burning. Everyone gave it their all, showcasing explosive power and sheer grit.

Sparring with a Competitive Edge

We wrapped up the session with sparring rounds tailored to mimic real competition scenarios. Each student paired up with opponents whose styles mirrored the challenges they might face next year. To push their limits further, the sparring rounds were longer than usual, building stamina and focus under pressure.

The sparring was electric, with powerful kicks, strategic footwork, and relentless energy on display. It’s clear the Team EKA Squad is gearing up to be a formidable presence in the ring come 2025.

Strength, Strategy, and Confidence

Today’s session was a prime example of what it takes to be competition-ready. From analysing Chappers’ journey to powering through the Walk of Pain and sparring with purpose, the squad demonstrated their commitment to improvement and their hunger for success.

Brilliant work, Team EKA! Let’s keep this momentum going as we prepare for an incredible season ahead.
