Children's Reward Chart: Encouraging Excellence at EKA

At Elemental Kickboxing Academy (EKA), we are committed to fostering positive behaviour and helping our younger students get the most out of their training. To inspire them to go above and beyond, we’ve introduced a Sticker Reward System that recognises effort, focus, and personal growth.

Sticker Reward System

How It Works: Each child will receive a sticker chart during their first class. Stickers are earned by demonstrating focus, effort, and improvement during training sessions.

Chart Details: Each chart consists of 5 rows of 10 stickers, totalling 50 stickers per chart. As students fill their charts, they move closer to earning an exciting reward!

The Reward (1): For completing a row of stickers (10 stickers), children will receive:

A bag of sweets. In addition, students who complete rows will be celebrated with recognition posts on our social media channels and a feature in our monthly newsletter, acknowledging their hard work and dedication!

The Reward (2): For completing a full show of stickers (50 stickers), children will receive a free 30-minute personal training session with the children’s class lead instructor. The session can focus on areas of their choice, such as sparring, kata forms, pad drills, bag work, technique, or a combination. These sessions must be arranged directly with the lead instructor, ideally 45 minutes before a scheduled children’s class. In addition, students who complete full sheets will be celebrated with recognition posts on our social media channels and a feature in our monthly newsletter, acknowledging their hard work and dedication!

Challenging Behaviour: Learning Through Discipline

At EKA, we value discipline and focus while ensuring classes are enjoyable, inclusive, and productive. To support this, we’ve introduced a points system alongside our rewards to guide children towards understanding acceptable behaviour.

Why a Points System? While adults generally understand respect for instructors, children develop this skill as they grow. Our points system provides clear boundaries to help them learn and thrive in a supportive environment.

Points System Guidelines:

3 Marks: Time-out from the lesson (3 minutes).

4 Marks: Miss out on the game at the end of the class.

5 Marks: Escalation to the head instructor.

15 Marks (in a single class): Class-wide reward forfeited (if multiple children receive strikes).

20 Marks (in a month): Miss the next grading. Parents will be notified by email.

In rare circumstances, if a child's behaviour is disrupting other members learning, parents will be contacted to discuss their child's behaviour in class and their appropriateness at the club.

Balancing Encouragement with Discipline

Our reward charts complement the points system, focusing on encouraging good behaviour rather than solely punishing negative actions. This approach helps children learn what is acceptable while supporting their growth and maintaining a positive group dynamic.

At EKA, we aim to create an environment where every child can thrive, enjoy their training, and develop important life skills.

Start earning your stickers, stay focused, and achieve your goals with EKA! 🏅
